Tennis Fall Classic 2010

Here is a list of topics discussed this past Saturday.  We made decisions on the make-up of the tournament based on majority vote from the players in attendance.  No specific guidelines, rules or contingencies were talked about; these details will be reviewed and determined later by the Director/Committee tournament members.

1)       TEAMS or PAIRS -  [The TEAM format was chosen; players will be selected on teams as in our past tournaments.  The tournament will only be for doubles play again.]

2)       GROUP A/B or OPEN bracket -  [The GROUP A/B type-bracket was chosen.  Depending on a player’s skill level, he will be placed in either GROUP A or B.  He will compete only against GROUP A(skilled) players or against GROUP B(less-skilled) players.]

3)      SINGLE-ELIMINATION or ROUND ROBIN -  [This decision is still pending.  It will be contingent on factors such the number of players and venue location to make the tournament feasible.]

4)      PLAYER SELECTION -  [We will choose Team Captains to select players from a pool.  The goal is to have balanced teams.]

5)      MAXIMUM NUMBER OF PLAYERS -  [This decision is still pending.  It will be contingent on venue location to accommodate the number of entries.  Carlo has connections at Laguna Creek Racquet Club; there are 24 court at this facility.  Donato will check with Cosumnes River College.  Zac will get back to me on Bartholomew Park.  And of course, there is always Galt Community Park where we played in the past.]

6)      NUMBER OF GAMES PLAYED -  [This decision is still pending.  Player fatigue and time-constraints are issues that require further discussions.  Final venue location will help make the determination.]

7)      FEE DEADLINE -  [The deadline is October 13th which is one month prior to the tournament date.  Fee amount is pending on venue location if there is a cost.  Payment reserves you a spot in the tourney.  Once the maximum number of entries have been determined, the saying, “First come; first serve”, will come into play.]

8)      DIRECTOR/COMMITTEE -  [We need volunteers to step up for these positions.  The Director position can probably be omitted if the Committee members agree to meet during the tournament if needed to resolve any issues.  Committee members can be the team captains as in the past.  We can probably get a non-participating person to keep of track scores.]

If you have any input on our Fall Classic, please respond to the group until we establish the point of contact as tournament organizers.
Gentlemen, let’s get the ball rolling and organize a great tournament for everyone to enjoy and remember.

New Tournament Date Nov 6, 2010

Tennis Buffs,

- The US Open Men's Final was moved to Monday... bummer!!! Sure you all were glued to see if Novak was for real, definitely an extra day keeps the playing field equal and one less excuse if the Serb fails.

- At least we don't have to move our tourney on a later date but this time the committe decided to move it even earlier from November 20 to November 6.  Sorry for the inconvenience but too many reasons to move it to an earlier date like what took place today at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. So please mark your calendar as this will be the final date November 6, 2010 at the famed Laguna Creek Racquet Club, the closes thing we can get to the US Open.  With it comes a new deadline for the fee/registration which is on October 9, 2010. The total number of entrees is limited to 48 players so please register early with your $20.00 to either committee members; Amrit, Donato, Jessie Congjuico, Jojo Jimenez,  Michael Quayle, Freddie Cauton, Carlo PaclibarBert Ramos, and Richard Aguada. Thanks and more to follow.

Paid as of 9/11/2010
1. Amrit Singh
2. Donato
3. Joe Yabut
4. Edgar Openiano
5. Jessie Congjuico
